This is a great opportunity for collectors to add some of Canada’s newest commemorative circulation coins to their collections, while also experiencing a special community event at Canada Gold – Winnipeg.

Three 2026 Commemorative Coins to Collect

The centrepiece of this exchange is the new $2 commemorative circulation coin celebrating the 100th anniversary of The Royal Canadian Legion.

The coin recognizes the Legion’s century-long support of Veterans and their families, its contributions to Canadian communities and its continued work to promote Remembrance.

The design was created by Calgary artist Vladyslava Pashchenko, who has a personal connection to the Legion’s Remembrance programs. In 2023, Pashchenko won the Legion National Foundation Senior Colour Poster Contest, part of the Legion’s annual National Youth Remembrance Contests.

Her winning artwork eventually opened the door to an opportunity she could not have anticipated: designing a Canadian circulation coin with national significance.

Pashchenko drew inspiration from The Royal Canadian Legion’s crest, using it as the foundation of a design intended to reflect the organization’s identity, values and 100-year legacy.

Visitors to the Winnipeg event will have the opportunity to meet Pashchenko and learn more about the inspiration and story behind the coin directly from the artist.

Collectors will also have the opportunity to get the $2 commemorative circulation coin celebrating the 50th anniversary of Toronto’s CN Tower.

The CN Tower opened to the public in 1976 and has become one of Canada’s most recognizable landmarks. The commemorative coin celebrates five decades of the tower as a symbol of Canadian innovation and engineering.

$1 FIFA World Cup 2026™/MC

$1 FIFA World Cup 2026 loonie, obverse and reverse

The third commemorative coin featured at the exchange celebrates FIFA World Cup 2026™, which was co-hosted by Canada, Mexico and the United States.

The $1 circulation coin recognizes Canada’s role as a host nation and brings the excitement of the world’s biggest soccer tournament into everyday Canadian coinage.

For collectors, having all three coins together creates a unique snapshot of some of the major moments and milestones being celebrated across Canada in 2026.

Meet the Artist Behind the Legion Coin

One of the biggest highlights of the Winnipeg event will be the opportunity to meet Vladyslava Pashchenko in person.

Her journey from winning a national youth poster competition to seeing her artwork become part of Canada’s circulating currency makes this coin particularly special.

Visitors can take the opportunity to learn about her creative process, the meaning behind the design and what it was like to create a coin commemorating such an important milestone for The Royal Canadian Legion.

It’s a chance to go beyond simply adding a coin to your collection and hear the story directly from the artist who created it.

Exclusive Canadian Coin & Currency Promotions

The event will also feature exclusive in-store promotions from Canada Gold’s sister company, Canadian Coin & Currency.

Collectors can explore special offers on select Royal Canadian Mint collectible coins and discover other pieces available for those interested in expanding their collections.

Whether you are an experienced collector or just starting out, the event is a great opportunity to browse collectible Canadian coins and learn more about the stories, designs and history behind them.

Enter for a Chance to Win a MapleGram

We are also adding a little extra excitement to the weekend.

Visitors will have a chance to enter a raffle for a MapleGram 1 Gram Gold Coin.

The MapleGram features Canada’s iconic Maple Leaf and combines precious metal with one of Canada’s most recognizable national symbols.
